5 reasons why my job is better than yours
I don't mean to brag... but I am obsessed with my job. Since I was a tiny little human, believe it or not I was smaller than I am now, -I have known what I wanted. I've known that I loved visual art, and that I had an itty bitty little talent with a camera, and a somewhat reasonable work ethic. Now, lets combine these. It's golden. I get to spend my time travelling, writing, creating and all with my favourite tool in hand to capture it all.
1. Soul food
Self expression is one of the major things that got me through my life thus far. Photography is a key outlet for me to release all the insides that are exploding at the seams. I can find a story in anyone I meet, and I'm dying to tell it if they let me. Writing about experiences, thoughts and art, is so healthy for an artist. It's the light, it's the setting, it's the subject, it's the time of day and it's the atmosphere. It's art.
2. Sunsets
Ohhhhh golden hour. Any photographer on the planet can agree with me here. This little tiny time slot of the day is where the most beautiful of magic happens. The sun dips low, the reflections peak and the subject shines. There's only a very specific time of day where this happens, in the summer it's later in the evening, but definitely worth the wait.
3. Magic
This is what happens when the photographer and subject start to vibe. I absolutely LOVE meeting new clients, models, families, ...
DOGS
.
I promise you
, we'll get along. This may be my favourite part of the job. Meeting an individual, family or pup and knowing for the next hour, I get to make them look and feel like they're the centre of their story. The best part is when I look back at the photo on my screen and can't even resist the urge and excitement to show my subject what we're working with. This is magic.
4. Art
It's art. It's all art. You are part of the art. We just created something that didn't exist before. The collaborative effort and the tiny moments that were a split second that now exist for years to come. The intent of the photographs, weather it's a gift for the grandparents, your first newborn baby or a photograph to be the centre of your family room. You are art.
5. Business
Who doesn't love making money? Of course. But the relationship built between me and my clients is more than business, it's friendship. It's such an amazing feeling getting email after email of clients that are over the moon with their final shots. -So much that they email again. My favourites are families and couples that I've grown with. From their engagement, to shooting their wedding, to their newborn baby photos.
You guys
make me love my job.
I am now taking bookings in Saint John, Fredericton & Moncton for photography sessions for the months of June, July & August. Choose your date, pick out your best outfits, choose your location (or let me!!!!!!) and I'll meet you at the beach. For one hour we get to hang out, make some magic and leave with an experience you'll remember for ever.
