As you may have seen, we took a recent trip to Cape Breton. We try and get to Cape Breton a few times a year as Justin was born there and so much of his family still lives there! This time we spent a few days with his family then dropped off the dogs and headed out on a mini vacation to Cabot Links, just the two of us.

We have both golfed at Cabot before, and it absolutely never disappoints. It's like another world nestled into the shores of Inverness. It's calm, serene and absolutely breathtaking. Upon arrival you are greeted by staff, asking where you're from and anything they cam help you with. We checked in and our room was ready early. We settled in for a little while before we hit our first round.

Our room was a Deluxe King Balcony. I couldn't recommend this room more. The view of the course and the ocean behind it was visible from bed. We used our terrace the whole time and had our morning coffee there, as well as room service, as well as wine. The room itself was light, airy, beachy and the decor was thoughtful, and all kinds of nods to local artists and Nova Scotia history. Our bed was huge and cloud like, and the bathroom was what marble dreams are made of. 10/10.

There was a book on Cabot in our room that we spent time flipping through and reading the articles about the area. One of the stories was about the creator of Cabot, Ben Cowan-Dewar. It was such an inspiring story and really went into detail about how he saw such potential for growth in Inverness, and how everyone thought he was crazy. Lol. How he had never created a hotel, a golf course or restaurants, but how he knew he could do it. These courses are now rated number one in the country and number 10 in the world. How's that for a vision coming to life.

Cabot Links has 3 restaurants on the resort. All three are highly rated and recommended. After we finished our round at Links, we grabbed a bite at Cabot Bar, located feet away from the 18th hole. The views are insane and watching everyone finish their round is so fun. Seating available inside and outside. We had brunch the next day at the Panorama Restaurant. It's exactly what it sounds like with panoramic views of both the course, Inverness, and the ocean. Lastly, The Public House, we ordered room service from the Public House and ate it on our balcony as we watched the sunset. I highly recommend the fish and chips, and the pizza!

Ok now the courses. I don't consider myself a huge golfer, but I have been golfing a few times a summer for quite a few years. I wouldn't say I'm GREAT, but I see improvement every time, and I find it really fun and a little friendly competition between Justin and I. Lol. I think my lifetime of playing hockey definitely helped with this. Even though repositioning my arms to not handle the clubs like a hockey stick is an ongoing struggle. Hahaha. Anyways -Even if you aren't a huge golfer, I highly suggest you book a tee time anyways. It's so much fun, and you CANNOT beat the views. Literally, you cant, number one in the country.

Cabot now officially has 3 courses, Cabot Links, Cabot Cliffs, and newly opened Cabot Nest. We missed the opening of the Nest by about a week, go figure!! Haha. It’s a brand new par 3, 10 hole course. Perfect for playing before or after a regular round at Links or Cliffs, or the morning before you have to take off. The last 9 holes of Cabot Cliffs are breathtaking. If you are a photographer, you NEED to do this. I took some of my favourite pictures of this year on this trip. The ocean, the cliffs, the landscaping, everything is different here, and it photographs incredibly beautifully. If you are going to Cabot, I recommend playing both courses. They are both different and amazing in different ways. I find Links a little bit easier for someone who isn't an intense golfer, (less brush to lose your ball in lol) and it's just beautiful to the eye. Cliffs is more rugged but has the INCREDIBLE views of the cliffs, especially on Hole 16 & 17. They are really different and if you have the time, definitely do both. Also both courses are known to have little foxes that come around and play in the bunkers, we saw one this year, and two last year. They are sooo cute.

The resort is beautiful. If you love architecture, you will be in awe, it’s designed by legendary course designers Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. When I was sharing our trip on Instagram, so many of you could not believe we were in Cape Breton. The buildings on the resort are stunning and something you see in a movie. Something we really loved about the resort is their huge fire pit area available to guests. It, again, has unobstructed views, loads of seating and barbecues on sight. Another perfect location for a sunset dinner.
