Lea @ Dulcedo Model Management

As I mentioned the other day,  I said I was planning some shoots with the new faces of Dulcedo Model Management. My first shoot here was set up with Léa. She is so gorgeous and it was hard to believe she had done only 1 other shoot before mine! Incredible. SO INCREDIBLE that one of the shots I submitted from our shoot was chosen by the editors of Vogue Italia for their online photo gallery. Needless to say I am being way calmer typing this then my reaction when refreshing my page on Wednesday and seeing one photo still displayed on the screen. I have submitted hundreds of photos throughout this past year or longer, I used to choose the photos really carefully then be discouraged when none were approved, then I stopped being so
particular and decided to give a variety when choosing 3 a day. Anyways, I was 100% not expecting them to chose any but I was ecstatic when I found out. VOGUE.    V  O  G  U  E     pinch me please

^^ Also, this was my FIRST shoot with a model that belonged with an agency.... It can only go up from here, yes? pinch me pinch me pinch me

Got these cool looking guys down on St Laurent last Friday for the shoot

Country music in the city

Have you ever been sitting in the living room or in class somewhere and caught yourself smiling at your cell phone? We all have. Its embarrassing but super adorable too. I do that every day lately, not from funny texts but just cause this place puts me in such a good mood. I love it. Just sitting on the bench smiling away at the world. Lollllll how lame am I.

A funny thing I've noticed since being here for a few weeks is, 1. How open everyone is to making new friends. Which is sweet for me. 2. The first thing they ask is "Where are you from" next question is "What kind of music do you listen to" I feel like being from New Brunswick everyone is open to Country music, and it's just a common type of music we all enjoy. Maybe not, but all of my friends, family &I like it. Here, I answered Country music and the guy said "I love Uncle Cracker" hahahahahah ummmm. So scary how even a province away Luke Bryan hardly exists. So 8tracks it is, all day long.

Here at L'Eloi, one of my jobs is doing a street casting in the streets of Montreal. Casting cool looking people, taking their photos on the spot, then later on bringing them for a shoot in the studio. Building an image bank for clients who are looking for "people" instead of models. It's a really cool way to interact with random strangers "Hi I'm Allie and I think you're super cool looking" now let me take your picture. Hahaaa, that's flattering right!? Really puts my français to the test. But good thing is no ones said no yet.

Here are 2 shots from my street casting last Thursday on Parc ave, this guy was so cute just sitting in the park playing his guitar. I couldn't resist

Aimless wandering

My favorite thing to do since I got here has been just aimlessly wandering in every and any direction as far as I want to go. Knowing my google maps app will save me when I'm done. I haven't touched my camera since I've been here, which bothers me. But, I have been in contact with Dulcedo Models and should be doing some test shooting with some of their new girls next week. Which is awesome. So check back for that. In the meantime I'll be scouting a location. wahoooooooo!

few questions asked via email

BenN asked:

Did your school get you connections for when you went to florida to help out on that shoot? or do you know people there?

My school had 0 to do with anything I've done, anywheres. Haha I emailed, I called people, I sent my portfolio to anyone who'd look at it! You need to network and can't wait for something to happen, you need to do it yourself. People are willing to help if you approach them.

BenN asked:

If i am just getting into photography in grade 11 what do you suggest i should do to get discovered & prepare myself for post secondary while im still in high school?what do you suggesr to better my photography while im still in highschool?

Just don't wait, and think something will come along when you're done highschool, move the ball along, get it going now. Create a Facebook page, start shooting. Find artists you like and follow them, check out their stuff everyday, then try and go create your own. Copy styles to get going and see which ones you like. Post secondary isn't as awesome as it seems, you can do just as much for yourself right now.

^^^^^^^^ I talk as if I know what I'm talking about

Here are a few photos from the cityyyyyy

Touchdown Montreal

I made it!! Still getting settled in, in this giant new city. A big thanks to my mom for coming up with me for the first couple days, now that she came and left I can't imagine how lost I would have been arriving here alone. It's so crazy here, and the nightlife is insane.  Looking forward to an incredible summer.

I got so many hard, and cute, and funny questions from people who read my blog! I am going to spread them out throughout posts, I think. So keep asking away! I got some through Facebook, and anonymous email!!! Haha pretty cool.   allie.beckwith@gmail.com

Ilovephotography asked:
Where do you get your ideas and how do you get inspired/ what inspires you the most?

Inspiration is everywhere, always.  You just need to stop looking and start seeing. think about that. I have days where I can walk around my house and pay no attention, then the next morning I walk around my house and see a red circle thing hanging in the window of my kitchen thats been there for years and then a sudden NEED to use it somehow. (See below blog post)
But the photographers I follow via blogs, facebook, instagram, youtube, really give me the most inspiration. I see them doing it and doing what they love, and it just snaps me into place and perspective. Seeing others succeed in my field.

I just want to say you do amazing photography !

Thank you! Every time I get an email like that I am instantly happy, and each of those are so encouraging & I know no one has to email me and tell me that, so thank you taking the time xox

Anonymous asked:
How did you land internship in montreal? Is it for school?

I worked my butt off to prefect my portfolio and got in contact with as many people as possible to get my photos out there, emailed everyone in the world asking for work in Toronto & Montreal, got very few emails back but knew I didn't want to spend my summer working at the GBW Golf Club, SO I worked even harder and followed up, and landed a skype interview with these guys and here I am! & No, it had nothing to do with school, self motivation is another key. (seems like less work & less stressful as I simplify it here lol)

Catch my disease

Yesterday, Caroline & I decided to get all pumped up for the photo shoot by youtube stalking LARA JADE my absolute idol. She has so many videos and photos of herself in shooting mode, so I decided to give Carol the role of videoing the shoot! It turned out pretty cool I think, so this is what it's like to be on a shoot with me!! Hehe I hope you like the inside view!!

Thanks to Jamie Walsh for coming along to help out on this one
& to Taryn Fitzpatrick for being our fabulous model!

The photos were taken on the old road to Grand Bay at a little run down garage

Here's a link to watch it a little bit bigger, I think.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky1d1kvYvMI

Spring time Summer

My 2nd year of school has come to an end and I couldn't be happier. I have announced officially a few days ago that I have accepted an intern position as production assistant for a  Production, Talent, Image agency in downtown Montreal, called L'Éloi. ( http://leloi.ca/blog/ ) Check out their blog. I can't even explain how excited and eager I am to just be there already. I CAN'T WAIT.
Before I got in contact with them, I was on their website and I literally burst out laughing when I was on their page, this is what it says:

YOU WANT A STUDIO SHOOT ON A WHITE

BACKGROUND: WE DO THAT. YOU WANT TO BRING AN

ENTIRE CREW TO THE FRENCH ALPS AND SHOOT 13

MODELS FROM A HELICOPTER: WE DO THAT AS WELL.

YOU WANT A STREET CASTING TO FIND 8 SETS OF

ALBINO TWINS: WE LOVE DOING THAT.

Hahah I just thought that was hilarious, and I new right there that I had to get to know these people. During my Skype interview I met 2 of the employees and they were just so youthful and fun, again I CANT WAIT.

Yesterday I was feeling exceptionally inspired and just wanted to hang out and shoot some cool stuff outdoors, it was so sunny and nice out. So I texted Jenn and asked if she wanted to shoot, the best thing ever is texting someone the 'day of' and saying what's up, lets shoot, and having them say, "OK be ready in an hour" So easy and awesome. SO obviously Jenn is absolutely beautiful and I am so in love with her look, we literally had to say OK we need to stop, because we would have been there all day. Here's 2 links to the last shoot I did with Jenn if you didn't see them already, ("From the Inside") ("The Outside"

We were driving around Milford in Saint John, trying to get to Dominion Park, we took a wrong turn or something and ended up at Murphyville. Though it has been mostly torn down, there were still a few things left standing, like the lighthouse you'll see in these photos. So I guess this counts as one of the Gems of Saint John, location shoots?? Haha unplanned, by accident.

This first shot is my favourite of the whole series.

My second favourite shot
How gorgeous is her face
