Top knots & lace

It's Thursdayyyyyy!!!! I feel like every blog post I've been writing lately I've just had to include how busy I am, this is an irrelevant fact, I know this. But still must include. From shoots, commissions, my 9-5 and packing, I've barely had a second to even reflect on what's going on. A sappy reflection post is in order. Not even for you guys! For me to get all my thoughts in one place. Hahaha

I've had a few interviews this week, some released, and a couple that drop in the next few days. I did an interview with P.MAI brand a little while ago that you can find here. I also did an interview with Huddle.Today for a series called, What's on my desk. I liked this little concept, and I enjoyed reading the others in the series. I have really exciting news that's coming out soon. It's so hard for me to keep it a secret, but stay tuned. It's a big one.

Now, this dress. It's so cute. Being short, looking for maxi dresses isn't always easy, and it's always risky when ordering online. This maxi isn't to the floor, and I love that about it. It's all lace with an open back. It has two slits up the sides and bell sleeves. I absolutely love. It is only lace, so you have to wear something under it. I'd say a little white or nude bralette or a white slip. I wore a nude bodysuit under mine. Mine is a size small and fits me perfectly. It did wrinkle a little bit easily but nothing a quick steam couldn't fix. We had a nice romantic evening down at the beach, shooting and hanging. Shot by @cal.peel ;)

Mixing whites

So my last post about my move to the West Coast, proves that blogging works. I have not been able to keep up with all of your emails about bookings and paintings since I shared that news via my blog! It's incredible how many of you are following this and watching! I wish more of you would say hi!!! I'm always so surprised when things blow up like that haha. I have about 3 more openings in Saint John for photo bookings! And don't worry about paintings, I will be doing lots and lots in the next coming months, and honestly, shipping isn't that expensive.

Now let's talk about the outfit. I changed my mind about before, I said that I didn't love summer fashion. But I do!!! This year I kind of figured it out. I've barely worn shorts, and I'm thankful for that. Lucky for me, my little city isn't scorching hot, it's breezy by the sea. We get away with wearing jeans all year round. I love summer style because you can still style oversized, just in different ways. You can throw things on, being baggy and light and still look cute. I find wearing light colours makes me feel more summery than wearing short shorts. Mixing whites and subtle patters is something I love. My jeans are by Fidelity Denim and have the cutest, most subtle stripes down the legs. They're girlfriend style and perfect for throwing them on and being, oh so effortless ;) I've been wearing these a lot and they really go with everything. On the weekend I wore them out at night with a black tank, rolled up cuffs with heels. Dress em up or down and still be the comfiest girl in the room.

Goodbye (again) Saint John!!

When I was away at school, I never pictured myself back in my hometown after graduating. I had plans of Australia, New York, and just travelling in general. When it came up that I had enough credits to graduate early, this all changed. I wasn't prepared at all, -so I got a job! (One) of my dream jobs, actually. For the past year, I've handled all of the photography, graphic design, web design & social media for Exchange on Germain & Handworks Gallery. It's been so much fun. It's pretty cool to have worked so hard to land a career I love, and to pick up a job (that I created) just like that. -I say "just like that", that's what happens when hard work meets opportunity. Who knew, Saint John had something to offer, something really cool to offer.

In the past year I've been working my 9-5, as well as my photography business. But I started something else that's pretty awesome. AKA DECOR. -My little babe. (Follow us on IG!!!) This is combining every single thing I love, in one company. With the help of my business partner, Katie, we've really picked it up from the ground and started running. So well, that I'm going to dedicate my days full-time and move myself to Edmonton to do the creating. -Did you catch that? I'm moving to Edmonton!!!!

We will be part of a program called Startup Edmonton, and I get to be with my momma and my amazing boyfriend Callum. No more distance for us!! Callum's job allows us to travel, a lottttt. So the blog posts should be exciting ones in the next few months. We're all pretty excited, and anyone who reads this probably knows that I'm not meant to stay in one place for too long. So off I go, again!

On another note, this post was to announce my move, but also to give anyone a last minute chance to book for photography as well as purchase paintings! (without paying shipping) So spread the word, I tried to keep the month of August as open as possible but between weddings & workshops, I have a little bit of room on weekends, but mostly weeknights!  That means golden hour!

To book or commission, email inquiries@alliebeckwith.com

For those of you in Eddy, see you in September!!

Everyday Sunday

Okay, so rewind 3 years. I'm a little intern at L'Eloi in Montreal. I got invited to shoot behind the scenes on a big swimwear photo shoot. It was a great day, and I actually think about it a lot. The line was by Everyday Sunday. They were brand new in 2013 and since then have grown incredibly. Ranya, a co-founder at Everyday Sunday started following me after I blogged about her brand. (See here) She's been following me since I left the city and when she saw on Instagram that I was going to be in town, we both agreed that we had to meet up! It was awesome, it was awesome to hang with an entrepreneur that you admire, and catch up on everything that's happened since the shoot. It's also awesome that me and Ranya never actually met on set, that it was purely social media that kept us connected. I love social media.

Me, Callum & Ranya went to a gallery opening, we went for a drink and we talked life and business. -My two favourite topics. By the end of the night we had plans to visit her showroom the next morning to pick up some swimwear for me to bring back to New Brunswick to shoot with me. Yayyy! (Dream come true for little intern Allie)

Ranya also encouraged I shoot the swimwear on me too, how sweet. Haha so Callum & I did just that, on the rooftop of our amazing Airbnb. (See info here) Our condo was by Atwater Metro and a fantastic location. The building was stunning and the rooftop looked like something out of a movie. I knew as soon as we stepped onto the deck that I had to shoot here.

The swimsuit is killer. It's a one-piece, which I own very few of. It's flattering, it's versatile, and my favourite -it's black. It can be worn a million different ways and it fits like a glove. Mine is a size 6 and fit me perfectly.

Montreal, mon amour

It was sooooooo good to be back in my favourite city. If you've been following me for a while, you'll know that I used to live in Montreal! It was the best experience of my life and it really changed me and secured my career path. There's something about this happy city that gets me. It's the art and fashion and positive vibes radiating from everyone you talk to. Everyone who's there, is happy to be there.

My boyfriend Callum and I made the trip. Right now we're a long distance relationship so this time we decided we'd meet in the middle. We jam packed our days from start to finish, and laughed our butts off the whole way through. We met AKA DECOR's manufacturing team, we visited my old internship studio at LELOI, I had a test shoot with DULCEDO Models & we visited my friends & designers at Everyday Sunday! (Sooooo much excitement coming up with all of these connections!!!) -I cannot wait to share.

Montreal is one of those cities that collaborations and connections happen so quickly. Every place we visited, I left with a new job, project or inspiration to go home with. So many new things in the works right now. Friday night we went to Comedy Nest. It was hilarious. You may not peg me as one for comedy, but I absolutely love it. We gallery hopped in Old Port, went shopping, hiking and drank lots of sangria! We ate at a lot of great restaurants and Callum tried his first Montreal bagel!!  We stayed in an airbnb and it was absolutely gorgeous, I'll have to share more details on that too. My next post will be up this week and the photography was done on the rooftop pool at our condo building. Airbnb for the win.

Canada Day

Canada day is next week and if you're anything like me, you'll make this a day to dress up, wear red & take all the pictures you can, on Snapchat, Facebook & IG for good measure. Just give me the stick on tattoos. I love celebrating Canada Day, it's hard not to be proud of this beautiful country, and what better way then to drink all day?! What Canadians do best! I don't know if it was only at Saint Malachy's where everyone broke into singing the national anthem at all parties, in the park, at hockey  games or anywhere really.. Maybe just a STM thing. -Anywho, weather you're in Ottawa or Saint John, join everyone on the boardwalk and we can all sing together!!

Ok now outfit details. I shot the look book for Strong and Free apparel last summer and have been obsessed with this brand ever since. They have two new shirts out just in time for Friday.
You can get them online (free shipping if you use the coupon code: happycanadaday) Or if you're in Saint John, you can buy all the Strong & Free gear at One Princess. They are also my favourite summer cottage clothes.
So you need.

If you have any Strong & Free gear, take a picture and tag me! I want to see it on youuuuu!!!
